A little early I know, but consider this my Christmas card to you, especially if you’re one of my lovely international friends! If you’re lucky you might even get one of my no doubt coveted printed Christmas cards and yes they were completely designed and printed by me!

Anyway, back to my animation, I created this little animation playing with my bamboo tablet, Adobe Illustrator and PowerPoint by way of the Windows Live Movie Maker. It’s pretty crude, but then I’ve never claimed to be an animator!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Have a Wealie Merry Christmas and a Fab New Year!

See you all bright and breezy in 2011.

Wealie x

It’s quite strange when you realise that one of the films you loved from childhood is now 25 years old. At the time I saw the film I considered 25 “extremely old”! Well Back to the Future is now officially 25 years old, yes it has been 25 years since it was 1985 and Marty McFly was having trouble getting back in time, to get back to the future.

Wealie not impressed (from left to right Sarah, Shelley and Wealie)

In 1985 I was just 10 yrs old (yes that does indeed mean I’m now halfway to 70) and I was rocking an unfortunate mullet hair cut, whilst feeling very hard done by at being dressed like my younger siblings! I mean the way I saw it a 10 yr old should under no circumstances be dressed like her 8 yr old and an 5 yr old sisters, it’s just wrong.

The situation was made doubly worse by my 5 yr old sister’s love of all things pink, frilly and girlie, which was the exact opposite of my fashion sense. You can basically see the expression of my dislike for the hairstyle and the shared sibling fashion in this picture of me and my sisters Shelley and Sarah.

Back to the here and now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Back to the Future it has be re-released for a short run back on the big screen and Ben and I took 6 yr old Dylan to see the film that we had both known and loved in our now distant youth!

It was great to see such a classic film on the big screen having missed it first time around at the flicks. It was also great to share it with the next generation – Dylan really enjoyed it too. I was struck by the little nuances that I’d missed in the film, even though I’ve watched it many times before. Especially at the beginning of the film there were a number details during the credits as the camera pans around Doc Brown’s laboratory.

Here’s a video clip of one of the most iconic moments of the film, where Marty stands up to Biff on behalf of his father George, which leads into a great skateboard chase and a dirty ending for Biff!

Not only are some of my favourite films now “old”, but so are some of my favourite bands and music. Just the other day Aha’s Take on Me iconic video was being discussed on the BBC website as it too celebrates it’s 25th anniversary! So here’s the classic video to take you back to those heady days of Dallas versus Dynasty, Alexis Colby shoulder pads, terrible mullet haircuts and only four channels on the TV!
